Your journey begins with the discovery of Zagreb, one of central Europe’s historic cities and ends in the city Split, a magnificent Mediterranean city, built around the Diocletian’s Palace – one of best preserved Roman architecture monuments in the world. Between these two destinations we’ve planned some gorgeous walks through Croatia’s national parks : spectacular waterfalls and dreamy lakes, the beautiful mountains of Croatia, walks through impressive canyons and along rivers and waterfalls… You will also have the chance to visit some lovely coastal towns like Zadar, Šibenik and Trogir.
DAY 1 – Arrival to Zagreb
Arrival to Zagreb airport. Departure by rental car to Zagreb. Settling in and overnight.
DAY 2 – Zagreb
Zagreb is the capital of the Republic of Croatia and one of Europe’s historical citys. Discover the Baroque atmosphere of its old town, picturesque open-air markets, the variety of shops, the rich artisan productions and delicious traditional cuisine. Zagreb is known as a „green city“ , with its parks and walking trails, as well as the possibility for numerous excursions around the city. Departure to Plitvice in the afternoon.
DAY 3 – Plitvice National Park
The Plitvice Lakes National Park is the most visited among the eight national parks in Croatia. Set in deep woodland, 16 crystal-blue lakes descend for more than 8 km and form countless spectacular waterfalls. Enjoy breathtaking scenery while walking along the numerous promenades through the woods in Croatia’s biggest National Park. UNECO World Heritage status was granted in 1979, among the first in the world.
DAY 4 – Northern Velebit National Park
Northern Velebit National Park is classified by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve. The park is situated on the northern part of the Velebit mountain range and stretches twice the size of its neighbouring Park Paklenica to the south of it.
DAY 5 – Paklenica National Park and Zadar
Where the sea touches the mountains, you will find the National Park Paklenica and its plethora of natural phenomena. Paklenica is known for its two impressive canyons, its numerous calcareous forms, caves and rich flora and fauna.
Zadar is a city of ancient origins with the largest excavated Roman forum on the eastern part of the Adriatic and its beautiful Romanesque churches.
DAY 6 – Krka National Park and Šibenik
Krka river is a karst phenomenon which shows us what is nature capable of doing to find its way to the sea. Krka National Park is a spacious area of outstanding natural value.
Šibenik – Visit the majestic Cathedral of Saint Jacob, a peerless monument of sacred architecture in Europe under UNESCO’s protection. Enjoy also numerous churches, monasteries, palaces and four fortresses.
DAY 7 – Trogir/Split
Trogir, a small and harmonious city. Set within medieval walls, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a true treasure for lovers of art, with its Renaissance and Baroque buildings and small churches.
SPLIT (UNESCO) – enjoy the promenade in this amazing city. After seeing a peristyle worthy of the Caesars, the Mausoleum of a Roman emperor and the sphinx imported from Egypt, drink your coffee in an ancient temple …
DAY 8 – Departure
Return of the rental car to the Split airport. Departure from the Split airport.
